Yesterday, as my friends and I scrambled up a very Rocky Mountain side- wearing flip flops and bare feet none the less- I was taught about a tantalizing fruit called winter berry. Although she is quite subtle and tasteless at first, you then start to taste her most wonderful spearmint-peppermint combination of flavors, encapsulating your whole mouth, and almost leaving a trace of numbness on your tongue.
Growing on impeccably tiny, low to the ground leaflets, this berry is easy to miss! As you can see from the photo, she has the most delicate yet bright pink color to her encasement.
She greatly enjoys rocky soil and higher, arid lands, particularly mountain sides.

Oh what a beautiful gift you found.
