Lichen is an incredibly strong and lively fungi. It is the first organism to return after a wildfire, and, remarkably, a checkpoint for air pollution. Lichen, as hardy as it is, refuses to grow in areas with high air pollution.
I love your idea because, it goes into the topic of using old, not new, technologies to save our planet. We don’t need fancy machines, just a simple yet invariably intelligent organism to help us.
I wonder if it would be too invasive to use as a “home test” to see the state of pollutants in other US states.
