Melancholy and sterile
The achingly bright splotch flickers along heaves of rock
Gravelly whispers from under thick rubber soles etch a pattern to that small circle of existence
Somehow,
Time grows and unspools
It is winding through the flash of light
Warping,
Rattling the fear stricken bones
It finally rests in the empty space of darkness
So heavy that wary fingers wrap and fray
Finally submitting
The splotch disappears with the agony of an arrow ripped from the chest
Muscles creak to a startling stop
Unmoving
Stone
The whispers of the night bang and crowd as they enter that organ of ceaseless panic
When one stills
Agreeing yet unmoving
The catacaphony,
A tangible story
Emerges
Tweedling and reedy heels and claws click and swiffle
Soft fur grazes a chuckling acorn
So it drops
A POUNDING DEAFENING PANICKING noise
Rolling gently among the flaying dark grass
Then stopping
Breathing slows for its moment
Until
Violently
Ragefully
Confusingly?
Little toe pads descending for a lap of stream graze a dried twig
Cracking gently and wholly
The crisp sound echoes
Then stops
Breathing slows once again.
